Puttering is Re-Opening December 1st!

Hello!

Oh my goodness, you have no idea how excited I am to be back in my studio! The shop is still in vacation mode, but I am in a flurry of creating new things in order to re-open in just a couple days. I am aiming to open on December 1st with just a few new creations, but I'll be adding more as the month goes on.

For those of you who have waited around, thank you so much for being patient and still being here!

It's been a long road. If you didn't know, I was struggling with horrible chronic pain, and actually lost almost use of my hands and arms for several months. I had to close my shop, as well as my photography business, for over a year. I went to several doctors, and had numerous blood tests and x-rays. As it turns out, I have fibromyalgia, as well as some osteo-arthritis and some auto-immune/thyroid issues. Amidst all that, I was training in weight-lifting, and remodeling my bathroom, and working, and... you get the idea. I was doing too much! My body finally gave out completely. It was extremely difficult to stay positive when I lost the ability to do everything I love!

I finally found a great doctor. She diagnosed me, and I have been doing SO much better under her care. Gradually over the past few months, I've developed a regimen of self-care that keeps me happy, mobile, and low on the pain scale! So I am back to making things, and smiling big about it.

In order to stay happy and healthy, I am changing a few things about how I run my shop, and I hope you'll understand! I have really enjoyed making custom orders in the past, but I will no longer be offering that service. Items I post will be one of a kind, and in limited quantities. When they're gone, they're gone so snatch them up quick!

Making miniatures brings me so much joy, and I love sharing that. I want this to be sustainable for me. I am only 32, and I'd like to keep making things until I'm very old :). I strive for delicious realism, and each piece takes me days to create. I will need to change my pricing accordingly, but I will do my very best to keep things manageable for you, my lovely customers! I am also going to be switching to FREE shipping in the US.

I'll see you in the shop on December 1st!

Blackberries + Facebook

Hello everyone!
I wanted to pop in and let you know I have listed more blackberries in the shop now...

I do have a very limited supply of the berry cartons, and I'm not sure when I will be able to get more.  I am working on several methods to manufacture my own, but they have to be perfect ;), which could take me quite a while!  I will begin selling the blackberries in miniature woven baskets once I run out of the cartons.  You can purchase them HERE.

In other news, I have just started to post some fun little behind-the-scenes snapshots on the Facebook Page!  I also have some "Before & After" blog posts planned for the near future, but in the mean time, the Facebook page is a good place to snoop at what I'm working on.

And now, I feel a strong desire to make some wee little carrot bunches!  I'm off to the studio!
With Joy,
Heather of Puttering

Ooooh, have I been busy!  I am officially on summer vacation, which means, of course, that I want to fill my time with work ;).  Fun work!

I want to get the shop well-stocked before July 4th, as my husband and I are off to Seattle to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary!  I will still be accepting orders while I'm away, and they will all be packaged up and shipped to you as soon as I return home on July 16th.  If you need any miniatures before then, now is the time to order!

Just added, a new cherry pie...

A scrumptious plate of chocolate brownies, sprinkled in powdered sugar...

Whole grain bagels and cream cheese...

And my miniature felted ball garlands are now available in neons!

Plus, there are still plenty of the original felted ball garlands...

If you are a reader/looker of this blog, I would love to hear from you!  I am relatively new in this world and I'm so excited about taking on new challenges.  If you have any questions or special requests, I'd love to hear them!
With Joy,
Heather of Puttering

Closing Up Shop

Hello dear readers!

What fun we had creating tiny worlds for you.  As much as we would like to continue, we have simply been unable to create time to continue Puttering.  Heather keeps quite busy running her photography business, and Rachel keeps busy with her screen-printing and running Fawn & Feather.

If at any point we are able to re-open, we will let you know!  The Facebook page, Twitter account, and our beloved little Etsy shop will remain online should we return.

Thank you so much for all your business.  We love you!
With Joy,
Heather & Rachel

Welcome!

On January 14th 2011, I decided to open Puttering, a wee little Etsy shop full of modern miniatures.  Not more than I week later, my dear friend Rachel began partnering with me to make more unique sixth scale goodies.  We are hooked!

Puttering specializes in quirky and modern design for one sixth scale [barbie/playscale] dolls and dollhouses.  Steering away from too much pink and plastic, we strive to bring you things you would want in your own home.

Here are a few of the items we've created so far for the shop, and there are lots more on the way!
